When converting to 134a the original EPR valve inside the back of the RV2 compressor must be removed. Because the EPR valve is what prevents the evaporator from freezing when in use, a thermostat must be installed as a means of replacing it.This thermostat can be installed on the firewall in the engine compartment with the sensing tube either clamped to the outlet tube of the evaporator, or directly on the evaporator case, with the sensing tube pushed directly into the evaporator/heater plenum to sense evaporator temperature.
* Some "A" Body vehicles (Valiant, Duster, Dart, Demon...) and vans already have a thermostat installed inside the vehicle, on the evaporator plenum. This kit is not necessary for those vehicles. Please verify your vehicle doesn't have a thermostat before ordering.
